Innovative solutions for intelligent vehicles dedicated to the modernization and development of public transportation services while meeting the sustainable urban mobility requirements

ITC developed an integrated innovative solution in order to address the concept of
smart bus and to meet the present requirements for a modern public transport management and for real time traveller information.
The following integrated experimental systems are the project's final results:
- An Electronic Ticketing System for public transport, which implements electronic travel cards with contactless cards. The system comprises subsystems for ticket issuance, ticket validation, ticket mobile inspection, traveller information, communication with the depot dispatcher via GSM/GPRS and Wi-FI channels;
- An Automatic Vehicle Location System which comprises an on-vehicle system for real-time GPS localisation and data/messages communications via GSM/GPRS/SMS;
- A Traveller Information System for the bus stations, providing on local information signs the estimated bus arrival hours, bus schedule, route modifications and other general interest information, updated via GSM/GPRS data communication;
- A Back-Office System supporting all the implemented systems with current management and reporting services.
A Decision Support System for the ticketing system, based on multidimensional analysis and reporting services.
