Environment

ITC has been actively involved in designing and implementing systems which help monitor and mitigate environmental hazards such as floods, landslides, air and water pollution. The solutions have been implemented in response to the needs of local communities affected by these hazards. We have developed online monitoring and control solutions based on modern data acquisition, communication and processing technologies. These solutions provide decisional support for authorities both in and before emergency situations.

Natural hazards are responsible for a good proportion of the damages incurred annually by the local communities. They also affect the economic and social development and unfortunately often lead to loss of life.
  • Hazard is a situation with an associated level of threat to human life, property and environment.
  • Vulnerability is a measure of the probability of property damage and the risk posed to human life.
  • Risk is a probability of exposing humans and property to a hazard of a certain magnitude.
  • Those subjected to risk include the following: humans, property, transportation and communication infrastructure.
ITC has developed the following R&D healthcare projects:
The expertise within these R&D projects was applied to environment solutions, which are part of the ITC portfolio.
