Mobile integrated citizen information services, urban public transportation network access support - assistance technologies in a knowledge-based society.

ITC realised an informational product, that can be implemented also on mobile terminals (PDA, mobile phone), that can offer useful information regarding orientation and movement within a metropolitan area, using different transportation networks (public and private) for people guidance.

The services created by integrating the developed products-programs, make available to the urban transportation network users informative reports regarding the public and private transportation means' movement, as well as orientation information.

The GIS technology used in this project's development is proprietary and distinguishes itself by a few basic characteristics:

• very easy to use and with a great productivity regarding the maps vectorization;
• uses few software resources;
• doesn't need installing drivers or support programs;
• doesn't present restrictions regarding the number of the vectorized layers;
• pan and zoom operations are very easy to use;
• offers scalability to program products that use this technology;
• the resulting products can be easily integrated in RAD-type development environments.
